"Exploring light, movement, and emotion through fluid color and natural form."
During a family trip to Lahaina, Maui in February 2026, I visited several art galleries in Makawao, Hawaii. There, I discovered the watercolor artwork of a local artist, who happened to be conducting a class that very same week. This inspired me to try watercolor painting for the first time, and I quickly developed an appreciation for both the techniques and the overall process. Since that experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with watercolor, as it allows me to develop a piece gradually over time—a contrast to acrylic pouring, which requires completion in a single session.
There are two types of watercolor art to choose from, regular painted watercolor on paper and sculptured watercolor paper art. This style involves cutting, carving, folding, or sculpting single sheets of watercolor paper and painting them with watercolors to create lifelike depth and dimension.
